Chapter 8
Nick felt like he had to tell Gatsby something in the middle of the night. He went to his house and asked Gatsby if he talked to Daisy but he didn't so they had a new convo about how Gatsby fell in love with her and how they would wait for each other when h was sent away to war. But he couldn't respond to her letters and he went to go find Daisy but she had married Tom. Nick leaves but doesn't want to leave Gatsby. Nick goes to work and really bored and falls asleep and calls Gatsby but the line was busy. he gets a call from Jordan and they were mad at each other because of the way they spoke to each other so they ended on bad terms. Scene flashes to Wilson's garage and police are all there and Wilson is insane and the police officer told him to calm down. Wilson started talking about the yellow car and thought Gatsby was driving it so he went to the city to look for the car. He figured out it was Gatsby's car so. Scene goes to Gatsby laying on a blow up mattress in his pool and Nick hears four shoots and runs to see what happened and Gatsby is dead on the pool and Wilson is dead on the ground with a gun in his hand. The character we are going to focus on in this chapter is Wilson. "I spoke to her, I told her she might fool m but she couldn't fool god. I took her to the window and I said God knows what you've been doing, everything you've been doing. You may fool me, but you can't fool God!"(159). This quote shows how crazy that Wilson is becoming after the death of Myrtle and how crazy he has become so that he can find out who killed her because he has a plan and knows what needs to be done. A big quote that shows importance in this chapter is "the touch of a cluster of leaves revolved it slowly, tracing, like the leg of transit, a thin red circle in the water. It was after we started with Gatsby toward the hous that the gardener saw Wilson's body a little way off in the grass, and the holocaust was complete"(162). This quote shows the death of Gatsby and Wilson and how that the both were killed and that all was going wrong because what Wilson had set out to do was to kill Gatsby and to make all right.

Chapter 7
So in chapter 7 Nick is invited to have lunch with Daisy and Tom in East egg. Gatsby and Daisy have an unspoken thing and it is right in front of Jordan. Wilson knows about the affair with atom and a Myrtle however Wilson has noooo idea who actually she is cheating with. Tom notices the exchanges between Daisy and Gatsby at dinner and see the emotions. They all go to the city and Myrtle is hit by a yellow car that everyone thinks is Gatsby driving it and then they go to the hotel and Tom comfronts Gatsby about all of the Daisy stuff and they fight and she gets into the fight and kind of takes Toms side and they leave. Nicks birthday and they are driving back to the island and see myrtles body and Gatsby is blamed for it. Gatsby is depressed that Daisy took toms side. The character is Myrtle and she is currently dead. "It's just a crazy old thing. I just slip it on sometimes when I don't care what I look like"(31). Yes this quote is from a chapter long ago however this quote is a good example of why Myrtle is arrogant and think highly of herself even though she has like no money and is poor. She isn't a very good person because she kinda is mean and thinks so highly of herself to make herself look rich and better although she is not that great. "She never loved you, do you hear? She only married you because I was poor and she was tired of waiting for me. It was a terrible mistake, but in her heart she never loved any one except me!" (130) this quote shows the tension between not only Gatsby and Tom but the whole situation of Gatsby loving Daisy. He is trying to put Tom down saying that Daisy never loved Gatsby but just got tired of waiting which may be part true but in a way I feel like Daisy has some feelings for atom but has more for Gatsby.
Chapter 5
In this chapter Daisy and Gatsby get together and have tea just like Nick had planned for Gatsby and Daisy to do. Gatsby try's to impress Daisy by showing off his mansion and all of the things he has but Daisy begins to think it is awkward. Gatsby is frustrated with himself because he can't impress her. The character that I am picking for this chapter is going to be Daisy. We have found out that Gatsby really wants for Daisy to leave atom and come to him. "They're such beautiful shirts," she sobbed, her voice muffled in the think folds. "It makes me sad because I've never seen such – such beautiful shirts before"(118). This quote shows how in love that Daisy is with Gatsby and that she can't even control herself when she sees how much that Gatsby has done to make Daisy happy and she is sad because she is afraid to leave atom because of what he might do to Gatsby or to herself. Another really important quote from the chapter is "If it wasn't for the mist we could see your home across the bay . . . You always have a green light that burns all night at the end of your dock." This is a very important quote because it shows the love between Gatsby and Daisy and how Gatsby's green light that Daisy could see across the bay is basically a symbol of love that he has for Daisy and I feel like the mist that is mentioned is symbolic for all of the things that are standing I the way of Gatsby and Daisy being together.

Chapter 6
So in this chapter we went more in depth about Gatsby's past . He was from North Dakota and he was poor and wanted a fancy and rich life, he was taken in by Cody and worked with him and he was an alcoholic and so Gatsby vowed to never drink. When Cody died he left Gatsby lots of money and so that is how Gatsby got wealth. We also figure out that Gatsby uses his money to buy a mansion and have all of this stuff to show it off for Daisy because originally they couldn't be together because Gatsby never really had all of the money and wealth and he had to go off to war. His real name is Jay Gatz but he goes by Gatsby now. This chapter basically focuses on Gatsby so this chapter gives a good incite on to why he lives in west egg and how he is new money. He is also very awkward as we see in chapter 5 and 6. The character we are focusing on for this chapter outline is Tom. So Tom is married to Daisy and he is having an affair and he is abusive. A quote we chose to represent him is "Tom was evidently perturbed at Daisy's running around alone, for on the following Saturday night he came with her to Gatsby's party. Perhaps his presence gave the evening it's peculiar quality of oppressiveness"(104). This quote shows that Tom is curious as to what Daisy is doing because he doesn't like the idea of running around by herself which is the reason he follows her to Gatsby's party. It shows that Tom doesn't trust her but I think atom is a terrible character because he is hypocritical to Daisy because he is cheating just like she is. The most meaningful quote we chose from this chapter is "his heart beat faster and faster as Daisy's white face came up to his own. He knew that when he kissed this girl, and forever we'd his unutterable visions to her perishable breath, his mind would never romp again like the mind of God. So he waited, listening for a moment longer to the tuning-fork that had been struck upon a star. Then he kissed her. As his lips touch she blossomed for him like a flower and the incarnation was complete"(111). This quote is very meaningful because it shows the love that Gatsby and Daisy share for the first kiss they have. This is a very good and vivid part of the book so we can see how deeply Gatsby cares for her.

Chapter 4
Nick and Gatsby go on a car ride. On the car ride Gatsby authenticated this life for Nick. Nick gets mad at Gatsby for basically rubbing his life in his face. He tells a Nick at Jordan is going to talk to him. Meet Myer and he is kinda creepy. There is lots of love in the air. Daisy is the character we chose in this chapter to elaborate on. "And when I described him I was half asleep she said in the strangest voice that it must be the man she used to know"(77). This kinda gives us some insight to Daisy and maybe she had a thing with Gataby back in the day but the decided to marry atom and I'm still not sure why she did. Daisy is kind of an interesting character she is kind of a pushover and I'm not sure as to why she didn't follow her dreams and follow and stay with Gtasby if she had a thing with him. A quote that we chose that was meaningful in this book is "anything can happen now that we've slid over this bridge, anything at all"(69). I feel like this is a meaningful quote because it is a quote shows that the characters in this book are very corrupt and they have problems and that anything can happen at any moment once you have made a decision in life. Life is a corrupt place.

Chapter 2 and 3
So in these chapters we basically got more of an insight into Tom's afair with Myrtle and Nick and atom went to the city to meet Myrtle and her husband George and Tom takes Myrtle and Nick into the city and Myrtle buys all of this stuff. George doesn't know anything about the afair. Myrtle and Tom and Nick go to the apartment in the city and have a small party where the Mckees and Catherine who is Myrtle's sister. Gatsby is brought up into the conversation and at the end of the night Myrtle decided to announce the word Daisy to everyone and Tom got angry and punched Myrtle in the face and broke her nose. In Chapter 3, Nick is invited to a party at Gatsby's and meets Jordan there and they start to have a closer relationship. At the party, Nick is anxious to see Gatsby and so Jordan and Nick go off looking for him but they only find a drunk guy in the library. Soon they do (without knowing it at first) met Gatsby and he took Jordan off to talk privately and then later that night, Nick left the party and there was a car crash and that is basically the end of chapter 3. The character I am choosing to focus on for this chapter is Gatsby himself. "Don't mention it, don't give it another thought, old sport." The familiar expression held no more familiarity than the hand which reassuringly brushed my shoulder. "And don't forget were going up in the hydroplane tomorrow morning, at nine o'clock." This quote shows that Gatsby is kind and nice to people especially Nick and even though everyone sees him as a mysterious man, he is a kind man. Gatsby, although we are just meeting him is going to play a bigger part in the novel although. Gatsby is really nice even though everyone know him and he is a mysterious person. "The only crazy I was was when I married him. I knew right away I made a mistake. He borrowed somebody's best suit to get married in, and never even told me about it, and the man came after it one day when he was out, oh ow that your suit? I said. "This is the first I ever heard about it." But I gave it to him and then I lay down and cried to beat the band all afternoon." I feel like this quote is significant in the novel because it shows that people in this book don't really love each other they just want to be together for the money. Daisy and Myrtle are alike in this way because they both make statements about how they need to keep a good position in life and have money. Daisy doesn't want to leave atom because then she would lose her position in life and the wealth. Myrtle wants to be with Tom because she never had all of that money and wants to be wealthy.

Chapter 1
In this chapter we met the character that is telling the story, Nick Carraway. He sets up the story telling us how he moved to New York and now lives in West Egg and lives right next to Jay Gatsby. They live in west egg which is basically the place where people just became rich. Nick goes to East a egg to visit Daisy and Tom who end up getting a phone call and before Nick leaves they try to make a point and hint how Nick should become Jordan's love interest. When Nick arrives back in West Egg he finds Gatsby outside his house with his arms streched out his arms across the water to a strange green light. A quote that represents Nick in a way is "whenever you feel like criticizing any one, just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had." (1). I feel like this quote shows that Nick has different experiences like that of Tom and Daisy because he went to Yale and isn't as stuck up about his wealth. Nick is the one that is going to tell the story for the rest of the book so he is a very important character to focus on. A quote from chapter one that shows the significance of the novel is "If personality is an unbroken series of successful gestures, then there was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promise of life, as if he were related to one of those intricate machines that register earthquakes ten thousand miles away" (2).This quote seems significant because it shows how Nick sees Gatsby in a different way then others do. He sees that he had some heightened sensitivity to life and how he is different from the others.
